((This opening was very heavily inspired by a round robin that kenlorens started once upon a time. Let's see how this turns out.))
The dark of night was banished instantly by a glorious burst of fire. Red hot metal rained from the sky like shooting stars as the burning shell of the floating prison crumbled at every seam. Travis could already see a fleet of helicopters approaching from the coastal city, and they were closing in fast. Closing in faster was the cold ocean waters beneath them. Travis twisted to face his dark haired companion who was also helplessly in free fall.
"Jake, you said Leslie and the dragons would be here by now!"
"Just wait, they'll be here."
"We don't have time to wait! The water is right-"
Out from the ocean's depths burst three reptilian forms, their golden scales and leathery wings gleaming as the light from the still falling prison complex shone off of their reflective surface. The spray of a million water droplets hit the two falling bodies an instant before they were securely clutched in the massive claws of two of the dragons. They looked over to see Leslie sitting proudly upon the third one's back. She glanced at the approaching choppers and cursed under her breath.
"I didn't think they'd get here so fast. We have to go! Now! I know a space pirate who might be able to help us out. You've still got the crayons, right?" Jake nodded as he scrambled up the creature's slippery scales into the saddle. "Alright, this way!"
As the dragons wove through the air, carefully dodging the falling shrapnel, Travis made his way into the saddle of his dragon and checked to make sure his handgun was properly loaded. He thought back to when he had been just an ordinary guy in college, not an armed fugitive being pursued by some of the largest organizations of the world. He sighed. He couldn't help but wonder when his life had gone so wrong.
