So to anyone who doesn't actually know me, I'm the guy who started this place. I like to write, more creatively than essays or whatever, but I can do both. Unfortunately I've run into a shortage of places to put my creative writing, which is where a large part of the initial idea for Golden Garden came from.
I've joined other roleplaying and writing sites before, and the inspiration for this one comes largely from a culmination of other sites which are dead or dying. Golden Garden is a place where people can roleplay with other people, write collective stories, or just put their own work up to be read, allowing myself and other writers a chance to get feedback for their writing and improve their writing abilities.
To those who don't know how to play-by-post roleplay, or just have any questions at all really, don't hesitate to ask. This board is just starting, but once the ball gets rolling I'm sure everything will make sense well enough. Welcome to the Golden Garden. =D

Looking forward to the play-by-post role-playing. I'll try to work up a character concept for the Sci-Fi plot you posted sometime this week.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm a seeker of wisdom and knowledge who loves to write and lives/breathes stress. Stress can come in many forms, and I welcome all of them; they motivate me with a fiery passion to drive forward. I think many of you will find that the most fascinating adventures, both in life and within this role-playing message board, come from stressful times. Since as long as I can remember, I've been a fan of the "underdog" character who excels in what is traditionally looked upon with skepticism by the common members of society. In the modern world, this translates to a fixation with books, science, and intellectualism, all of which seem to be declining in American youths' interests. In fantasy, this translates to a love for magic-users and alchemists, whose skills come not from menial attributes such as strength or speed, but rather from their knowledge-base and undying passion. Don't be surprised to see me playing the mage-type once again; To quote the great Raistlin Majere, "Magic will be my sword". I look forward to hearing a little bit about everyone else.

Wow, "Raistlin" (Heh, I still have to laugh at that name). That sounded like you were trying to be eloquent, and while you may have succeeded, it sounds ridiculous coming from you. Seriously, if you write like that, I don't think I'd be able to keep a straight face while reading it. Anyway, I'm a person, who's also a bit of a douche. I used to write a bunch, but gave it up when I realized that I couldn't stick to a plot for more than two or three pages. So now I mostly play video games, hit on girls, and lurk the internet. And if you can't guess who I am yet, well... You either don't know me, or are incredibly thick.

Guess who you are? Oh, I don't know. The username 'kenlorens' doesn't give it away at all.

Hence the 'incredibly thick' part.

Mr. kenlorens, clearly you're not as familiar with Raistlin's writing as I am. It may be a bit different than his normal tone of voice, but I do find it quite enjoyable. =) Anyway, even though I've welcomed most of you to the site in the real world, I might as well do so here for formalities sake. Welcome to Golden Garden [your screenname here], I hope you have a good time here. Feel free to post around if you haven't already. =P
