The rules are fairly simple, and should be easy to abide by. For the most part they're just common sense and decency. Failure to follow the rules may result in warnings, and I reserve the right to ban members who continue to break the rules after multiple warnings, though I'll only do that if you're really interfering with other people's ability to enjoy the site.
Global Rules:
Be Considerate. Trolling, Flaming, Spamming, and other forms of rude activity is unacceptable. If offering constructive criticism, make sure it is presented politely and it is, in fact, constructive. Just use your common sense. We're all here to have a good time, so relax and enjoy.
Be Literate. Use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling to the best of your ability. This means no typing in chatspeak, cuz no1 lkes 2 c ur stuf if u rite lke this. Nobody is perfect, and we understand if you have typos and errors occasionally, but please try to write correctly.
Be Not-distracting. This forum has all sorts of really cool features you can play with, but don't go overboard. If your posts are hard to read or just distract from the flow of the thread you're posting in, you're tinkering too much. This is a general rule, but it specifically applies to the UBBC Color Codes. Unless you're using it for a specific, functional purpose or for an artistic purpose (like poetry), please keep the body of your text at the default colors. Signatures are an exception to this, unless your signature is unnecessarily large or bright (again, don't be distracting).
Specifically concerning Roleplaying:
Be Creative. We've all heard plenty of stories about the Mary Sue helpless princess and her heroic Gary Stew prince rescuer. Please, give us a break. No, really. If you want to make an interesting and fun roleplay, don't make your character a cardboard cutout of perfection with absolutely no depth or personality.
Be Fair. Basically, no Power Playing or God-Modding. If your characters can solve all of their problems by waving their hand and blowing up whatever is in their way, you're going to have a Hollywood action flick on your hands: No plot, no drama, but lots of big explosions. Seeing as Golden Garden is a writing forum and not Hollywood, that kind of roleplay probably won't get too far.
Be Appropriate. Anyone can access this site, so try to keep roleplays at a PG-13 level. If I need to I can make a board for more mature roleplays, but if I don't have to I'd really rather not.
And Finally:
Have Fun! These rules are made to try to help everyone have a good time and feel comfortable. Go out, write, enjoy yourself, and try to make sure everyone else enjoys themselves too. Thank you for reading through these rules, I hope you have a good time!
